| Page 1 had the first of way too many elements that seem to have been lifted from my own youthful memories/traumas. Sure, when I was creating the character of Charlie I was just responding to the random phrases found by flipping through some of my novels (read about my character creation process in part 2 of the About section), but the way he came out was a perhaps exaggerated version of me circa 1987. Having no car I was a frequent rider of the Sun Tran bus, or as it was known among my peers, the Shame Train. And, my family having moved to the raw desert outskirts of Tucson, Arizona, sometimes I felt stranded for hours at a time waiting for it. And my own hair is so fine that any disturbance (like for instance, a breeze) makes it form random shapes with no aparent pattern. And add to that super-geeky. Yes, Charlie is the me of the past, but it seems I haven't put the past behind me as much as I like to think I have. |
